Best practices when buying a used cell phone.
Make sure that the phone you are buying works properly and has no underlying issues. This is something we see very commonly. People sell used cellphones or smartphones with issues that aren't noticeable right away. Bring a list of functions to test when you meet the person. Make sure the device is not stolen and is not on the Blacklist. You can check the phones IMEI which is the serial # of the phone. On the dial pad press *#06# and go to https://www.devicecheck.ca and enter the IMEI and it will tell you if it is on the list. Keep in mind that the device may be so freshly stolen it's not on the list yet as this takes 2 days to get on there. Make sure there's no iCloud lock on it or Google lock. This is probably just as important as checking to see if it's stolen.
